Intro:

You don't see many specialized mice here for review at ASE Labs that often. Nor did you see anything with lighting reviewed recently. Xoxide sends a product that breaks those two things down. This mouse looks nice and keeps you cool at the same time. Interested? Then read on...

Box:

Box

The box is a bluish Xoxide box. Bla bla bla...

The Mouse:

Mouse 1

When you open the box, you are greeted with a silver and black mouse with a silver cord. At the end is a PS2 plug. This totally threw me off considering that the PS2 port doesn't provide much power, and that USB is becoming more and more common.

Mouse 2

This picture details the mouse more. As you can see, the mouse contains a small fan to keep your palm cool will playing games... or looking at porn (Your choice I guess). You'll also notice that the buttons on the mouse look a bit different that normal. The buttons are felt! Actually I think they are velvet. Xoxide is known to mod stuff alright. This is pretty funny. The thing that gets to me about that is that the felt will become gunky and grimy after a bit of use. And I have no idea how to clean it. The left side of the mouse contains a 3 way switch to turn the fan from off to high speed.

Bottom

The bottom of the mouse contains a vent for sucking the air up. You can also see the sensor all the way to the right side of the mouse (facing down). It does provide a different feel altogether, I was used to the sensor on the left side.

Testing:

Lights On

Basically as a mouse, it works fine. No real problems. Most of you will want to turn the fan off because the mouse vibrates... (unless you want it to vibrate). Other than the felt gunkiness and the vibration, the mouse is okay. It feels plasticy and cheap, though. But you aren't just buying it for the mouse quality, you want looks as well. As you can see from the above picture, this is what the mouse looks like with the lights on.

More Lights

In this shot you can clearly see the red sensor LED. It gives the mouse a nice and unique look.

Dark

Here is a shot in total darkness. You can really see how the mouse shines (pun intended) in this environment. No more fiddling to find the mouse in the dark. Did I mention it vibrates? Yeah.

Conclusion:

You can pick this mouse up at Xoxide for $20. If you want my opinion, it isn't worth it considering you can get a good mouse at a local computer store for the same price that feels nicer. Don't be fooled about the look of the mouse, it isn't important. It is a device you'll be using for a long time and you want it to be comfortable.

I'd like to thank Xoxide for sending this mouse for review.
